The Thoracic Oncology Center, part of The Cancer Institute at St. Joseph Medical Center, was created to bring advanced diagnostic services and innovative treatment options to those suffering from diseases of the chest including cancers of the lung, esophagus, and chest wall; abnormalities of the great vessels and heart valves; birth defects of the chest and heart and tumors in the organs contained in the chest cavity.
Compassionate care coupled with the latest procedures in thoracic surgery, such as video-assisted thoracoscopic techniques (VATS) and thoracoscopic sympathectomy, are providing the best possible outcomes for patients diagnosed with Lung Cancer, Esophageal Cancer, Malignant Mesothelioma, Barrett's Esophagus, GERD, Hyperhidrosis/Sympathectomy, Myasthenia Gravis or Emphysema (LVRS)
The treatment team of the Thoracic Oncology Center is made up of specialty-trained physicians, nurses and other health professionals. They include surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, thoracic radiologists, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, nurses and social workers.
