Latest Advances in Maternal Health Care

Amniocentesis

Amniocentesis is the removal of a small amount of amniotic fluid (the water surrounding a developing baby) from the uterus. The procedure is done in a doctor's office or hospital clinic, usually when a woman is about 16 weeks pregnant.

The Perinatal Center at St. Joseph Medical Center is devoted to providing comprehensive care for high-risk pregnancies. Our team of highly qualified, perinatologists, one of whom is also a board-certified geneticist, work with registered sonographers, genetic counselors and nursing support staff to manage complicated pregnancies. learn more +

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

The Mrs. Alonzo G. Decker Jr. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a newly designed unit tailored to benefit our smallest patients and their families. St. Joseph's Family Childbirth Center offers high-quality, personalized care for normal and high-risk pregnancies. With homelike labor and delivery and recovery suites, the Family Childbirth Center is designed to make this precious time for new moms as safe and pleasant as possible. learn more +

Women's Health Associates
St. Joseph's Women's Health Associates provides general gynecologic and obstetrical care including alternatives such as midwife births. This collaborative practice includes certified nurse midwives who offer safe, high quality care for women with low-risk pregnancies. learn more +

Pediatrics After Hours
Pediatrics After Hours at St. Joseph offers fast care to pediatric patients and peace of mind to parents. As an extension of the Emergency Department at St. Joseph, Pediatric After Hours is open from 12 noon to 12 midnight, 7 days a week. learn more +
